As part of the DOKSAY Project, biodiversity monitoring studies have been launched in the areas managed by the Rize and Güneysu Forest Management Units, with the cooperation and support of the Rize Regional Forestry Directorate. The studies aim to assess the biodiversity values of forest ecosystems, update priority species lists, and provide scientific input for the implementation of conservation and forest management plans.

Six main species groups are being monitored: plants, birds, large mammals, small mammals, reptiles and amphibians, and butterflies. Other biodiversity components and ecological processes important to the structure and functioning of forest ecosystems are also being assessed.

By jointly assessing soil, water and biodiversity components, the studies aim to generate scientific data to support the sustainable management of natural resources.
